Women’s Collective is the outcome of the Collective efforts of six organizations in Tamilnadu headed by women. The Collective is facilitated by Ms.Sheelu through Tamilnadu Resource Team and was started way back in 1994. It was the time when leadership of women among NGOs was a rare affair and mostly women were field workers executing orders at village level. Today WC has as many as 40 such units spread over 1500 villages falling under 18 districts, in Tamilnadu, India.

        Women’s Collective organizes people at village level into small self help groups with average membership of 12 and which function as self help groups helping the members to deal with their personal, family and community issues which meets once in a month.

Vision Women’s Collective believes in the rights of the excluded in the society, especially that of women and children to have a peaceful and secure environment to live. Our Vision is for a just Society in which the rights and the needs of the excluded are addressed without any discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, religion, culture, class, politics, health and education, with assured food security, protected environment and disaster preparedness which ensures sustainable development.     Mission • Creating awareness among the excluded communities and creating global awareness about inclusive politics. • Organizing the excluded communities especially women. • Advocating for their socio-economic, educational, health, gender, political, cultural and environmental rights. • Networking with movements, organizations and campaigns with similar Mission.
